Welcome to our Class page!

Welcome to Foundation Stage. We would like to extend the warmest of welcomes to Highfield Farm Primary School to you and your family.  It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to where our children start their school journey at Highfield Farm.

We love learning through play in our class and have lots of rich, stimulating activities for our children to engage in. Our environment supports early language and listening skills, physical, personal and social development. We also like to challenge our children to become independent, confident learners, big thinkers and happy learners, ready for all that school life has to offer.

Our Early Years classroom comprises of both Nursery and Reception children, where the children play, learn and interact with each other. Our teaching and learning is based on cross-curricular themes which are designed both to develop the children’s key skills, follow their interests and challenge each child to progress onto their next steps. We believe that the way young children learn best is through carefully structured and self-initiated play.

Our maths and literacy lessons blend fun, engaging games with focused activities, providing the children with a firm basis of understanding on which to build their later knowledge. There is a focus on phonics and early reading in our class from the very start.

You will see from our Dojo page that our children also get to explore a range of topics, based on their interests and current needs. We love being creative and finding out about the world around us. Our families and friends are always welcome to contribute to these ideas as we create a learning partnership between home and school.  We welcome you to share activities and interests that your child may have at home and we will have regular learning for you to share with your child as part of this patnership.

Our PE days will always be on a Tuesday and Thursday. Your child can attend school on these days dressed in appropriate PE kit.

We encourage your child to bring a bag with spare clothes, any personal care items they need and a water bottle to school every day.

We will provide healthy snacks for your child on a daily basis. This will be a variety of fruit and vegetables. There is no charge for this.

If your child has prescribed medication such as an asthma pump, they must have it on the school site and we must have this recorded on our medical needs form. This can be done at the school office.

Please make sure that your child's belongings are all labelled up. This will help prevent items getting lost.

Together we  will ...be kind, show respect and keep trying
