Attendance
Good attendance and punctuality is very, very important in order for your child to do well and make progress in school.
If your child was to miss one day a week this would amount to one and a half years absence from school between the age of 3 and 11. You can imagine the effects this would have on a child’s progress in school and on their future prospects.

Most of you, we know, value school and make sure your child attends regularly; however, there are a small number of pupils whose attendance gives us cause for concern. In these cases, regular non-attendance will have a negative impact on each child’s education and social development. Our Family Support Worker will be in contact, to offer support, should your child’s absence become a cause for concern. We are not asking that any child attends school when they are genuinely ill, but absence does need to be kept to a minimum.

It is important for parents and carers to contact school with the reason for absence when your child is unable to attend. This also applies to part time children in Foundation Stage.

Days off school add up to lost learning
-
If you are 5 minutes late every day that adds up to over 3 days lost each year.
-
15 minutes late is the same as being absent for 2 weeks a year.
